This week on Bubble Wrap, we dove headlong into songs from 2010 which turns out to be the year when disillusionment really set in. Bjork’s exhortations notwithstanding, we had some SOS’s from the Black community with The Roots How I Got Over and Beeda Weeda’s Baserock Babies. The Scissor Sisters reminded us that we are running out, and Jenny and Johnny got swept up in a big wave. When things are not super great, it’s sometimes nice when someone acknowledges it — misery loves company and all that. (I especially liked The Clogs’ On The Edge that year. Does that say something?)
It was not all gloom and doom, though, and even the songs that were doomy were enjoyable. Fortunately there was also plenty of dance music and tuneful pop to balance the equation. Check out the complete playlist below:
